Catalog description

This course will introduce students to simultaneous interpretation in the medical, legal and educational fields. Students will learn how to comply with the equivalence requirements of simultaneous interpretation in the above-mentioned fields. There will be emphasis on reviewing; the history of simultaneous interpretation, the role of the interpreter, relevant settings and research skills. Students will practice paraphrasing, chunking and shadowing exercises to increase vocabulary and create a strong foundation to begin acquiring simultaneous interpreting skills up to 125 words per minute.
