Catalog description

This course examines the essentials of writing and the structures and changing curricula of the teaching of writing. Teacher and student modeling during drafting, revision, conferring, editing, and publishing are demonstrated; the 6 Traits of Writing are explored and used in lessons. Students prepare and present mini-lessons based on the Massachusetts English Language Arts Framework. Picture books are used as mentor texts to study the craft of authors. Prerequisites: EDU 6200, EDU 6000 and EDU 5109 are recommended but not required.
