Catalog description

This course introduces the basic concepts, technology, and safe practices of electricity and lighting and sound for live events. Lectures focus on theory and practice, while lab provides opportunities to use equipment in real life situations. There may also be opportunities for optional field trips to a number of venues in the San Francisco Bay Area such as Theatreworks and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Class sessions may also connect students with professionals in the field. Students need to purchase a small lighting template and are highly recommended to purchase one eight or six inch adjustable wrench.
