Interpreting Preparation Skill

Catalog description
This course introduces students to theories of interpretation and translation and the cognitive steps for students to build necessary skills for processing interpretations in meeting the needs of diverse deaf populations. Students practice visual and auditory discrimination; pattern recognition and cloze skills; summary and paraphrasing; clarity and fluidity of expressive fingerspelling; and ASL transcription for translation work. Cloud-based storage or another form of digital repository will be needed for the purpose of saving students' work produced in ASL.
