The world's oceans are examined from physical, biological, geological, and environmental perspectives. This examination includes the study of the origin, structure, and exploration of the oceans; plate tectonics; marine life; hazards and natural resources of the oceans; their role in climate change; and human impact on the marine and coastal environments.
