Catalog description
This course is the first of a two-semester course that provides an introduction to biological principles for biology and health professions majors. Topics emphasized include biochemistry; cell structure and function; metabolism; cellular reproduction; Mendelian genetics; molecular genetics; genetics of prokaryotes and viruses; biotechnological techniques; and evolution. Students taking this course should also plan to take Biology 101B. Students need disposable gloves and a lab coat for lab.
