Welding Fundamentals

Catalog description
This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts, equipment, and techniques used in common welding processes including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Oxyfuel Welding/Cutting. Students will learn basic weld bead development, machine setup, polarity, and electrode/filler selection. Emphasis is placed on understanding each process's application, strengths, and limitations. Lecture 3 hours and Laboratory 3 hours per week.
