Catalog description

This course explains the role of the nurse in meeting the physiologic, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the elderly. Course content includes the normal aging process; effects of aging n thebody; physiologic, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the elderly; effects of medications in the elderly and leadership and management skills of the nurse. The concepts from Basic Nursing will be integrated into this course. Pre- requisites: BIOL 1434 or BIOL 2214 and 2224. Corequisites: PN 1005, 1105, 1013, 1023. Lecture 2 hours per week
