Catalog description
he Nursing Assistant Program introduces basic concepts and principles in assisting with nursing care. Emphasis is placed upon the development of fundamental nurse assistant skills, techniques, and knowledge. The program serves as a starting point for a variety of health careers. Clinical experience is in area health care facilities, providing the student an opportunity to develop nursing skills by giving direct patient care. Student has option to complete CPR. This course is approved by the Arkansas Department of Human Services' Office of Long-term Care to be completed in a condensed 3-week or semester-long 16-week format and students who complete the course are eligible to take the state certification exam to be a Nursing Assistant in Arkansas. Lecture 4 hours per week.
