Catalog description

Students explore music in the context of eight representative cultures: Native American, African, Afro-American, Japanese, Indian, Indonesian, Latin American and peasant cultures of Eastern Europe. Students study a variety of musical expressions and their cultural roots. Lecture three hours per week.
