Catalog description

This course prepares teacher candidates to effectively teach mathematics and science to elementary students with learning differences, including those served under the North Carolina Extended Content Standard as well as the NCSCS for elementary students. Candidates will investigate and apply current content, instructional methods, and materials designed to meet the diverse needs of exceptional learners. Emphasis is placed on using differentiated instruction, authentic assessment, and inclusive teaching strategies. Candidates will design and implement an integrated, technology-enhanced, problem-based thematic unit grounded in best practices and aligned with Extended Content Standards when appropriate for the individual student. Course fee required. (F,S)
