Catalog description

This course will develop the necessary foundations in mathematics for prospective elementary teachers. The course emphasizes the developmental nature of learning in mathematics and a conceptual understanding of elementary mathematical methods and ideas through an inquiry-based approach. In this course, candidates will focus on topics including Numbers and Operations of Fractions and Decimals, Algebraic Thinking, Geometry and Measurement, Concepts of Data Analysis, and Mathematics Pedagogy. Prerequisite: EDU 332 Math Foundations I or permission from the Director of Teacher Education. (S)
