Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to offer students an expanded and updated look at how criminal justice is practiced around the world. The course compares and contrasts the criminal justice system in the United States with justice systems in selected countries, and introduces crime as a global problem through analysis of transnational and international crime issues. Students will apply comparative methods to analyze criminal justice systems of selected countries; evaluate major legal traditions of the world; explore an international perspective in policing, courts, and corrections; and review modern dilemmas, contemporary influences, as well as possible future developments. Prerequisite: CRI 221. (F)
