Prerequisite: Illinois licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and acceptance into the paramedic program. ^ Students will be introduced to the role of the paramedic and the ethical and legal aspects that influence field practice skills. Emphasis will be placed on a foundational understanding of pathophysiology, lifespan development, pharmacology, medication administration, assessment, communication, documentation, medical conditions, diseases, and treatment protocols.
