Catalog description

This course provides an overview of the history and foundations of art as healing. It begins with an exploration of early images, sacred sites, and the role they have played in physical and mental healing. The discovery of art of the mentally ill and how Freud and Jung blended art and psychology are also addressed. The major focus of the course is on contributions made by Art Therapy pioneers and current leaders in the field to the development and practice of art therapy in diverse settings and with diverse populations.
