Catalog description
In this course students learn, explore, and apply methods and concepts that are relevant to contemporary painting. A series of assignments involving fundamental steps and diverse techniques develop proficiency in observation, handling and rendering with painting media, as well as fostering self-confidence in creative expression using art elements. Students will be introduced to a full spectrum of painting practices in order to make connections between contemporary painting and art created in different cultures and periods of time including international artists, ethnic artists, and self-taught artists.
