Catalog description

This intermediate course builds upon the concepts, tools, and processes introduced in Sound Design for the Stage. As a combination of lecture, demonstration, and independent projects, this course will continue the practice of text analysis and dramaturgy-based research, introduce aspects of system design and signal flow tailored for live theatre, and dive deeper into advanced techniques in audio production and playback programming. Students will also embark on the hands-on process of designing an intermediate level production, wherein they will shepherd their design from the concept to full execution. By the end of the course, the student will be able to design and deliver a completed design and will be prepared to take on a mainstage-level production.
