Catalog description

In this course students will examine, practice, and research the most frequently used English and foreign language dialects encountered in English-speaking theatre and film. Content examines technical aspects of an accent or dialect, such as pronunciation, oral placement, melody, and rhythm, within its historical, cultural, and social context. By applying learning to dramatic text, students will investigate how accent and dialect illuminate character and storytelling.
