Basic Audio Operations

Catalog description
This course introduces students to basic audio systems, routing, and industry knowledge applicable in many areas of the audio field. Students will execute proper gain staging, signal flow and small-scale audio system routing with small analog consoles and outboard processors. Students will practice setup, tear down, and handling of production equipment including microphones, stands, cables, consoles, and headphones. Instruction focuses on hands-on projects and in-class exercises. Homework will include supplemental video and reading material. Tests and quizzes will be both practical demonstrations in class as well as written.
