Catalog description
This course focuses on the application of the nursing process in the care of adult medical/surgical patients. A holistic approach will be emphasized in studying specific body systems (Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Hematology, Renal/Urinary, Oncology, Sensory), as well as concepts of genetics, fluid and electrolyte balance, and perioperative nursing care. Each topic will include study of diseases and pathological processes associated with them, including their etiology, diagnosis, signs and symptoms, treatment and nursing considerations. Students will apply this nursing knowledge to practice effectively in clinical settings. Prerequisite: CH254, CH254L, PSY 200, All 100 and 200-level nursing courses. Corequisite: NUR315
