Catalog description

Comparative Health Systems & Healthcare Economics. This course provides students an overview of the U.S. healthcare system in comparison to other health systems around the world including the policy programs, providers and payment systems. It also addresses key issues in healthcare services today. It provides a thorough survey of the policies and structures of the U.S. healthcare system, a historical analysis of the development of the current system, and the organization and administration of healthcare services today and for the future. Participants will examine the healthcare system in terms of equity, appropriateness and effectiveness of the way healthcare services are delivered and how we pay for them.
