Survey and analysis of the development of the United States from the colonial period through Reconstruction. The course examines ethic, social, military, political, economic and ideological themes in order to achieve a broad understanding of American civilization to 1877. Attention is given to the dominant Christian influences that have tended to shape our cultural, social, and political development.
