Catalog description

This is an integrative course of the areas of classical and molecular genetics. Focus on the principles of heredity in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, which includes the understanding of transmission genetics on a molecular level. The molecular nature of genes, including gene expression, mutations, and manipulation of DNA will be emphasized. Three lectures and one three-hour laboratory per week. Prerequisites: BIO-1110 Introduction to Biology and BIO-2250 Cell Biology; or take BIO-1115 Biology I: Cell Biology. (Fee: $100)
