Enrollment restricted to MLS and CLS students only. This course imparts the technical and legal knowledge required to build and develop robust compliance approaches for the use of AI. The course explains foundational use cases of AI, contextualizes legal areas that might be affected by it, and attempts to develop standardized solutions to common legal issues connected to AI. As is the case with most emerging technologies, AI requires a high degree of awareness of potential issues rather than in-depth knowledge of specific fields of law. The main purpose of this course is to create this awareness, thereby preparing students for a broad variety of real-life challenges. Note: Students taking this course cannot also take AI Law (LAW*557) whether before or after taking this course.
