Satisfies Experiential Learning Requirement. This skill-building workshop explores practical aspects of the restorative justice approach to conflict resolution and problem solving, which legal professionals may encounter in criminal, educational, child welfare, workplace, and community settings. the workshop. During class, restorative justice will be examined through storytelling, working groups, discussion, and experiential practice. The class relies heavily on students' active and sensitive participation in dialogue and activities that draw on personal experiences and perspectives. Within this container, students will be encouraged to critically challenge assumptions, bring personal experiences to the learning process, and lean into discomfort with an open, respectful heart. As critical elements of experiential learning, the course structures time for observation, feedback, and self-reflection throughout the course.
