Catalog description

May be used to satisfy the Writing Requirement. This seminar is required for students in the Concentration and for the Concentration Certificate. However, students interested in criminal law who are not enrolled in the Concentration may take this course. The seminar will focus on significant issues in criminal justice. Class attendance and participation are mandatory. "Students must successfully complete a substantial paper or other substantial "capstone" project that primarily relates to criminal law, criminal procedure, or criminal theory. The topic and scope of the paper or project must be agreed upon by the faculty teaching the course and the student prior to, or during, the first three weeks of class. In addition, Seminar students will be required to orally present their paper or project to the class. With the consent of the faculty instructor, students may choose to complete their College writing requirement under Academic Regulation 703 and their Concentration writing requirement with the substantial paper.
