Catalog description

May be used to satisfy the Writing Requirement. The Health Law & Policy Seminar provides a capstone experience for Health Law & Policy Concentrators. Typically taken in the third year, second year students and UCSF students may request permission to enroll (students writing a journal note on a health law topic are encouraged to apply). The seminar provides students with the opportunity to explore cutting edge issues related to law, medicine, bioethics, and health policy, and to delve deeply into a topic of their choosing. Students work closely with the instructors and other students to draft a paper of publishable quality. Students will receive personalized instruction at each phase of the research and writing process and also learn effective written and oral communication skills. The seminar culminates with the student's preparation and presentation of a substantial scholarly research paper that satisfies the writing requirements of the Health Law & Policy Concentration and of the College. NOTE: Students must be enrolled in the Health Law & Policy concentration to register for this seminar.
