DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LAW

Catalog description
This course will provide an in-depth study of California domestic violence law. The class will cover all domestic violence topics, including legislative intent, jurisdiction, required relationship, acts enjoined under the domestic violence prevention act, disturbing the peace, temporary restraining orders, restraining orders after hearing, mutual restraining orders, renewal of DV orders, attorney fee award for DV cases, impact of DV finding on other family law topics like custody, visitation, spousal support, and pension. Students will be expected to prepare DV forms, declarations, and participate in in-class exercises. This is an exam course.
