Catalog description

This course explores mothering and caregiving as pathways of ancestral medicine and regenerative healing. Students will examine how lineage stories from their biological ancestors or chosen linage express healing modalities. What are those modalities, and how might they utilize the same modalities as their ancestors? What are the cultural traditions, and embodied practices can serve as foundations for personal and collective transformation. Drawing from feminist, Indigenous, and transdisciplinary perspectives, the course emphasizes the role of caregivers as knowledge keepers and world-makers. We will look at how each modalities utilize healing dimensions. Alongside readings and reflection, students will engage in experiential practices and community visits that bring ancestral healing into lived experience. Priority registration to TID students.
