Catalog description

This class will look at eco-emotions: the various feelings we have in response to the current state of the world and the bleak prospects we face, in terms of climate catastrophe and related issues of social upheaval and ecological injustice. The class takes the view that working with our emotions is key to cultivating the resiliency we need for both activism and adaptation/transition, both personally and collectively. It considers how we can hold both our grief and our love for the world at this time of great uncertainty, and how spiritual approaches that re-connect us with the living world can help with this. The class includes theoretical perspectives as well as experiential elements. PRIORITY TO PHILOSOPHY, COSMOLOGY, CONSCIOUSNESS STUDENTS & ECOLOGY, SPIRITUALITY, RELIGION STUDENTS.
