California Institute of Integral Studies · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The focus of this course is to provide further in-depth and practical exploration of the clinical relationship and how it can deepen and enrich the therapeutic process. We will hone listening skills, work with feelings, and examine personal issues related to transference, countertransference, and the deepening of empathy. The goal is for students to recognize personal qualities in themselves that might contribute to a more effective clinical relationship, as well as those that could be problematic. Through dyad work, students will learn how to work with one's strengths and challenges, as well as how to identify specific ways of working in the clinical relationship that support the therapeutic process. RESTRICTED TO COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS; PRIORITY REGISTRAITON TO ICP AND ICPW STUDENTS
