Across time and space, and from multiple perspectives, this class studies remarkable fantasy & myth (F&M) texts, films and art as gates to the exploration of our individual and collective psychologies in the highly diverse cultural context of our contemporary society. In addition to encouraging the students to develop and trust their own unique voices, this class aims to apply psychological and socio-cultural perspectives to the interpretation of F&M works, use imaginative works as gates to expand knowledge of self and others and grasp the centrality and complexity of our shared, imagined realities as potent contexts to living.
