Neuroscience of Psychedelics

Catalog description
Students in this course will be given a general understanding of neurobiological functioning, the neurobiological mechanisms of psychedelic drugs, and the resulting changes in brain activity. Students will further understand how psychedelics are grouped according to their neuro-receptor affinities into classic and atypical psychedelics, with individual treatment potentials and abilities. Topics will include an overview of the nervous system, the neurological bases of mental disorders, and cognitive and behavioral effects of various types of psychedelics and medications. RESTRICTED TO UNDERGRADUATES
