Catalog description

This course introduces students to visual art and architecture from prehistory to the medieval era with a focus on art from Europe, North Africa, and the near East. The course will further consider global interactions involving these regions. Through in-class discussion and visual and contextual analysis, students will develop visual and historical literacy by studying objects, images, and structures. Students will expand their worldview by recognizing the contributions of historic peoples to the development of human cultures and how they continue to impact society today. May be offered in a distance-learning format. CAB GE C, Cal-GETC 3A. C-ID: ARTH 110.
