Catalog description

This course explores the critical intersection of healthcare informatics, leadership, and regulatory issues within the dynamic healthcare delivery landscape. Students will explore healthcare informatics roles, competencies, and ethical dimensions, gaining the skills needed to provide leadership in the evaluation and resolution of legal and ethical challenges. Through comprehensive evaluation plans, students will develop proficiency in leading healthcare informatics initiatives. Additionally, this course provides an in-depth understanding of selecting, using, and evaluating healthcare information systems, as well as the process of data extraction from practice information systems and databases. Students will also learn to assess and apply emerging technologies in healthcare, and advocate for policies and regulations that foster the appropriate use of information and communication technology.
