History of Opera

Catalog description

This course is concerned with the beginning and growth in prominence of opera over the past four centuries. Operas from all stages of development of the genre will be discussed with special consideration given to: Monteverdi, Gluck, Mozart, Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, Britten, Menotti, and Corigliano.
