Catalog description

Continuing the development of analytic skills necessary for the comprehension and critical assessment of music, this course explores diatonic and chromatic harmony. An emphasis is placed on tonicization, modulation, modal mixture and other chromatic chords, tonal function and prolongation, Roman-numeral analysis, voice leading, and the basics of musical form.
